Con Report: Anime Oasis Day 3 (Saturday)

Tasunke here, Saturday was filled with sleeping, more video games, as well as the stage event cosplay, which we missed part of, due to grabbing lunch and stopping at Borders in the mall. Something I neglected to mention was that AO is using a new scoring system for the Unrestricted Cosplay and Stage Event Cosplay this year. A live scoring system that means we don’t have to wait around for the result of judging. It actually is pretty cool. The winner of the stage event cosplay was a woman who had an awesome Nehellenia costume (she’s the head of the Dead Moon Circus, the antagonists of the SuperS season of Sailor Moon).

The Slants concert in the evening was pretty cool, though I couldn’t make out what the vocalist was singing most of the time. Dunno if that’s par for the course, or if that was due to the audio setup here or what. Jen Cho wasn’t there due to illness, as the vocalist, Aron, mentioned during the concert. So “Gaijin” had to do double keyboard duty. Afterwards was the anime dance, which I stayed out of, personally (though Razorfang quite enjoyed it), mostly because the music was too loud for me.

The anime slumber party was great, they had karaoke again this year, and there were some really good performances. I myself did “Smells Like Nirvana”, complete with gargling. Though I had too much water and ended up getting some down the wrong throat and missed a couple of stanzas due to coughing. n.n;

That’s it for today’s report, see you tomorrow for the report of the final day of AO Nana.

(Sound off about the AO Nana reports here.)
