Con Report: Anime Oasis Day 4 (Sunday)
Monday, March 17th, 2008There was a taiko performance on sunday by the group known as “Kawa Taiko”. It was awesome. ^_^ I was sitting in the second row, and could feel the vibrations of the taiko drums. They were very well coordinated and syncronized, and I was very impressed. The spokeswoman for the group said they are just an amateur group, but they sound and look very professional to me.
After that was the the second set of Battle Cosplay rounds. What was amusing was how often people were rolling 0-10 for attacks and 80-90 something for defenses. I’ve never seen so many combatants in the Battle Cosplay injure (or even kill) themselves so much trying to perform attacks, or being countered, or just randomly exploding or the like. XD I believe Jeremy was running out of creative ways to explain all the crit failures.
Finally, however, a winner emerged. A team consisting of Byakuya, Renji, and Vash the Stampede. They went up against the winner of the Battle Cosplay from Friday, which was the team of Ninja, Extra Ninja, and Ikakku. The winner of Sunday’s matches beat the winner of Friday’s… then did a happy little dance on stage.
Closing ceremonies were fun, though bittersweet, because they meant that the con was over until next year. But wait! Perhaps we don’t have to wait until next year. The same people that put on AO are doing a convention Thanksgiving weekend called Tomodachi Fest. It’ll be held at the same location as AO, and has the potential to be just as fun as AO. We haven’t decided if we are going to Tomodachi Fest or not yet however.
Anyway, thus ends AO Nana. This is Tasunke, signing off for now.
